Detectives are appealing for anyone with information to come forward as they investigate the death of a man in Weymouth.

Dorset Police received a report at 12.25pm on Monday 25 March 2024 of a man requiring medical attention in Brunswick Terrace.

Officers attended, along with the ambulance service, and very sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after. The man's next of kin and the coroner have been notified.

The death is currently being treated as non-suspicious and enquiries to establish the circumstances of his death are ongoing, led by detectives from Weymouth CID.

Following enquiries into the incident, a 50-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the supply of class A drugs.

Detective Inspector George Graham, of Weymouth CID, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who sadly died, and we are carrying out a number of enquiries as we look to establish the full circumstances of this death.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in or around the area of the Pier Bandstand on Weymouth Esplanade, or who has any information that might assist our enquiries, to please contact us.

“We are aware that a member of the public assisted by administering CPR to the man at the scene prior to the arrival of the emergency services and we would very much like to speak them in relation to the incident.

“The investigation remains ongoing and there will be an increased policing presence in the vicinity as further enquiries are conducted. Officers can be approached by members of the public with any information or concerns.”
