Dear Resident 

There have been 34 thefts or attempted thefts of keyless high value vehicles since mid-Dec. Most vehicles are believed to have been stolen via the 'relay' method, which involves a transmitter and relay booster to capture and relay the signal from a vehicle owners' key fob, which overrides the vehicle's computer system. Mercedes and BMWs are mostly being stolen.

Offences have occurred in Christchurch, Poole North, Bournemouth North, East Dorset, Poole South, Bournemouth East and Purbeck. Where known, offences have occurred between 00:00 to 04:00 hours overall, on all days. Research is currently ongoing into potential suspects.

Vehicles have recently been located in Bournemouth North and Ringwood, with several other vehicles being located close to the scene of the theft.
