|
Officers are continuing to investigate a racially aggravated assault and criminal damage in Bournemouth and would like to speak with a key witness.
At around 11.05pm on Sunday 24 August 2025 it is reported that two women were travelling in a taxi in the area of Exeter Road when they became racially abusive towards the driver.
It is further alleged that the women assaulted the driver by grabbing, scratching and hitting him as he drove and caused damage to his taxi.
Following an image appeal, two women came forward and have been assisting officers with their enquiries.
Police Constable Jennifer Marjason, of Bournemouth police, said: “We take all reports of hate crime very seriously and are continuing to explore all lines of enquiry in relation to this incident.
“We now know the taxi driver came to a stop in Wellington Road, where a member of the public pulled over in their car and went to assist him.
“We are keen to speak with this individual as they may have information that could assist our enquiries. If this was you, or you know who this person is, please get in touch with us.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police online or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55250126579. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online using its website or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111. | ||
