Appeal for information following burglary in Weymouth

Officers are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward following a burglary at a home in Weymouth.

At around 6.30pm on Saturday 22 November 2025 the occupants of a property in Dorchester Road in Broadwey heard suspicious noises coming from the area of their front door and, a short time later, the back door.

They went to investigate but there was no trace of anyone present. Later in the evening they discovered a quantity of tobacco had been taken from the property.

A further report was received that at around 7.30pm on the same evening a man had entered the driveway a nearby address and was confronted by the occupants. It was believed he had also entered the garden and shed.

The man allowed the residents to search his bag for stolen property but nothing was located.

The man is described as white, aged in his 40s, around five feet ten inches tall and of slim build with stubble and a nose piercing. He was wearing a black beanie hat with a Batman logo, black Puffa-style jacket, dark-coloured ripped jeans and trainers with the laces undone and had a black rucksack with him.

Police Constable Mike Golder, of Weymouth police, said: “We are investigating this burglary and the suspicious incident during the same time frame, which we believe could be linked.

“I am keen to hear from any other residents in the area who may have witnessed any suspicious activity during the evening of Saturday 22 November 2025.

“I would also urge people to check any available home CCTV or doorbell cameras in the area of Dorchester Road, north of the Manor Roundabout, between 6pm and 8pm on the evening in question to see if they have captured anything of relevance.”
