SEIZED E-SCOOTER
While on foot patrol today a member of the Neighbourhood Police Team stopped a 25 year old male seen riding an E-scooter on the pavement in East Street Bridport where the scooter was seized under Section 165A Road Traffic Act and the rider reported for not having any insurance . It is illegal to ride any E-scooter in a public place unless it is under a local government scheme. It is also illegal to ride E-bikes in a public place that have been adapted to exceed 15.5 mph and anyone caught on e-bikes that exceed this limit will have the bikes seized and face prosecution for any committed motoring offences. Although it is legal to own these items , you can only ride them on private land , with the landowners permission and would advise any parent thinking of buying them as a present to make sure that you are aware of the legislation to avoid any unwanted disappointment It has also come to our attention over the last few weeks that damage is being caused to playing fields and grass verges by those using E-bikes and off road E-motorcycles and are seeking any information that may identify those responsible . #BridportNeighbourhoodPoliceTeam #BridportPolice #PCSO5422 #PC1068 | |
