Dorset Police Rural Crime Team - Weekly Update

It has been another busy week for the Rural Crime Team, working alongside partners and local communities to tackle rural crime and protect Dorset's countryside.

✅ On Wednesday, the team attended the Country Crime Prevention (CCP) event at Holme Gardens, engaging with members of the public and providing crime prevention advice.

✅ We carried out two Dot Peen security marking visits, helping rural businesses to protect valuable equipment and improve the chances of recovery should theft occur.

✅ The team also completed a number of Rural Crime Team crime prevention visits, offering practical security advice and reassurance to rural residents.

✅ On Tuesday, we held our fortnightly meeting with Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPTs) to share Rural Crime Team priorities, discuss current issues, and strengthen joint working across Dorset. Representatives from two additional NPTs attended to support information sharing and problem solving.

✅ Wildlife crime enquiries included reports of two suspected bat roost disturbances and one barn owl nest disturbance. Following assessment and investigation, no offences were identified.

✅ Officers conducted proactive Operation Galileo patrols across rural areas, targeting hare coursing and poaching activity. These patrols remain an important part of our ongoing efforts to deter offenders and reassure rural communities.
