Fuel and Heating Oil Security

Alert message sent 18/09/2020 08:33:00

Information sent on behalf of Dorset Alert

It’s nearing that time of year again when traditionally we see an increase in reports of heating oil and diesel fuel thefts. Please follow these simple steps to secure your tanks.

Where possible, please keep fuel tanks locked up and alarmed.

Please consider installing tanks within secure building or cage. If it’s impossible to keep your tank inside a building, consider planting spikey shrubs and fencing to hide your tank and surround the area around the tank with gravel.

Consider installing anti-siphon devices, keep a check your oil levels regularly and install motion sensing CCTV and lighting. CCTV can now be linked to your phone, giving you piece of mind and real time alerts at any time of the day or night.

Make sure any empty drums around your home or farm are removed to avoid drawing attention to your oil tank and these then being used to steal your oil.
