Detectives investigating a reported kidnap incident in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

It was reported that at around 9.15pm on Monday 12 July 2021 the victim – a local man aged in his 30s – was walking along Walpole Road in Boscombe with his girlfriend when a red car approached them and two men got out.

The men were reported to be known to the victim. One of them was reported to be holding a screwdriver and the other was later allegedly seen in possession of a knife.

The victim was reportedly pushed and forced into the car, then taken to the cashpoint at the Esso petrol station on Palmerston Road, but when they arrived he was able to get out of the vehicle and escape.

Following enquiries, a red Vauxhall Corsa was located in St Clement’s Road and a 45-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested on suspicion of kidnap, robbery and failing to provide a specimen for analysis and a 39-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of kidnap.

They have both been released on police bail as detectives continue to make enquiries.
