Appeal for witnesses following attempted sexual assault in Bournemouth

Detectives are investigating a report of attempted sexual assault in Bournemouth and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

The incident occurred at around 5.30am on Saturday 23 October 2021 in Durley Road South. It was reported that a woman aged in her 40s was walking along the road and as she approached the junction with Hahneman Road, a man walked toward her, pushed her down to the ground and attempted to remove her clothing.

Following a struggle, the man walked off on Durley Chine Road toward St Michaels Roundabout.

He is described as white, aged in his 20s and of slim build with dark hair and unshaven. He was wearing a grey hooded top.

Detective Sergeant Leo Glendon, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We take incidents of this nature extremely seriously and have launched a full investigation to identify the man involved. We are also continuing to support the victim.

“We have been carrying out extensive enquiries and I would ask any witnesses or anyone with information that might assist our investigation to please come forward.

“I would urge residents with home CCTV systems or motorists with dashcam who were in the area to please check their footage for anything relevant.

“Local officers in the area can be approached by members of the community with any information or concerns.”
