Telephone Scams

Alert message sent 16/02/2021 16:08:00

Information sent on behalf of Dorset Alert

The scams continue please be on your guard and make sure vulnerable elderly relatives or neighbours  are aware. There are a number of  scams doing the rounds at present; a call stating your National Insurance  number has been compromised and HMRC threatening you with arrest  - both of these are automated calls. There is also one stating to be from the police asking you to pass bank details as there has been a fraud on your bank account  - the police would never ask you for your bank details. There are scams from callers claiming to be from Amazon as well as one to do with COVID.  Remember scams change all the time  and can be topical.  These callers can sound very convincing and are after your hard earned money!

Help to protect vulnerable or elderly relatives by making sure they have call guardian or call blocker on their phone. - these systems can also be purchased relatively cheaply.

If you receive a call the advice is to HANG UP ON FRAUDSTERS!
