Information sent on behalf of Dorset Alert

Officers investigating a sexual assault in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

At around 8.20pm on Wednesday 15 September 2021 the victim – a woman aged in her 30s – was walking along Linwood Road toward Maxwell Road when she noticed a man walking in the opposite direction. As he approached her, the man touched her inappropriately over her clothing before making off toward Fitzharris Avenue.

The man is described as white and around five feet seven inches tall with brown medium-length wavy hair. He was wearing a dark-coloured zipped up hooded top with the hood down, light-coloured jeans and sports shoes.

Police Constable Elliot Penn, of Bournemouth police, said: “This was understandably a distressing incident for the victim and we are carrying out a number of enquiries to try and identify the man responsible.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the sexual assault or any suspicious activity in the area on the evening of Wednesday 15 September to please contact us.

“I am particularly keen to speak to a man in a blue football shirt who stopped to check if the victim was all right.

“I would also urge residents with home CCTV or anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check their footage for anything of relevance.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55210149661. Alternatively, to stay 100 per cent anonymous, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or call Freephone 0800 555 111.
